AW/2006 C.P. Company x Collegio Guide Alpine Trentino Jacket 50
£475.00
A very rare item from the AW 2006 C.P. Company collection.
This jacket was created by CP in collaboration with the Alpine Guides of Trentino in Italy. Alpine Guides in Trentino can be traced back to 1874 with the early guides providing expert support for those pioneering alpine enthusiasts who wished to explore the Dolomites, initially considered “impossible” to explore. The College was officially introduced in 1994 and is the body for self-government, protection, training and promotion of the profession in the province.
The project was designed to evoke the age-old tradition and culture of a region that has alpine activities as one of its most important values. Studies into the history of the textile industry in Trentino and research on traditional clothing between the 19th and 20th centuries have brought to light the existence of a textile production specifically intended for the population of the valleys.
Among the various names used, the most interesting is the one known locally as "Stamét, a kind of fustian mixed fabric comprised of hemp and wool, which is thick and robust. CP partnered with local textile company, Artelèr, based in the Primiero Valley, to develop a fabric that reflects the artistic and quality craftsmanship of the region using manual weaving of natural yarns of various types according to techniques descending from ancient traditions.

The jacket has its roots in the past and culture of Trentino, with particular attention to its alpine vocation, harmonically combining glamour, textile technology, design and tradition. With these characteristics in mind it has been developed in "Double Batavia" in a mix of cotton, wool and nylon, then subjected to a Teflon anti-drop and anti-rip coating. The jacket features beautiful finishes and detailing throughout, including an embroidered red eagle which features on the regional flag, and detachable College patch at left cuff.
It’s unclear how many of these jackets were produced but we only know of one other example. Both were samples sourced originally from FourMarketing, so likely to be extremely rare
